TESOL International Association Statement on Protests in Iran

by Jeff Hutcheson, Director Advocacy & Public Policy |

TESOL International Association stands in solidarity with the Iranian people, especially those educators and students facing violence and incarceration from the government for protesting gender discrimination.

The events unfolding in Iran since the death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini while in police custody highlight the struggles of the Iranian people for a society free from bias and discrimination.

TESOL is committed to working with our global membership and partner organizations through education and advocacy in support of the Iranian people as they seek to improve their country, communities, and lives for a society that respects the rights of all.
