The 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners®

TESOL International Association has defined a core set of principles for the exemplary teaching of English learners. The 6 Principles (6Ps) are universal guidelines drawn from decades of research in language pedagogy and language acquisition theory. They are targets for teaching excellence and should guide any program of English language instruction:

  1. Know your learners.
  2. Create conditions for language learning.
  3. Design high-quality lessons for language development.
  4. Adapt lesson delivery as needed.
  5. Monitor and assess student language development.
  6. Engage and collaborate within a community of service.

During this 2-day interactive workshop, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on 23 January and 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on 24 January, you will be provided with the necessary knowledge and tools to integrate The 6Ps into your teaching context.

Once you complete the workshop, you will receive a digital badge you can share online and an electronic TESOL certificate of completion.
